Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools
The journal “Zeszyty Naukowe Pedagogiki Specjalnej” adopts principles of responsible, transparent, and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the process of preparing, reviewing, and editing scholarly texts.
This policy applies to all stages of the publication workflow: manuscript preparation by authors, the peer review process, and editorial work. Its purpose is to safeguard scientific integrity, ensure confidentiality of materials, and clearly define the scope of permissible AI use.
Scope of Application
AI tools are understood as both solutions that support linguistic and technical work, as well as generative tools capable of producing text, summaries, images, tables, analyses, or other content.
The use of tools supporting language editing, technical correction, and organizational tasks is permitted, provided that it does not violate confidentiality rules, does not replace independent scholarly work, and does not introduce unverified content into the text.
Guidelines for Authors
Authors may use AI tools in a supportive manner, for example for language editing, text shortening, structuring, or improving readability. However, this does not release authors from full responsibility for the content of the article.
Authors are required to independently verify all data, citations, sources, results, and conclusions. Content generated by AI must not be presented as the author’s own independent scholarly work without appropriate disclosure of its use.
It is not permitted to list AI tools as an author or co-author of a publication. Responsibility for the content of publications always rests with the human authors.
Authors should disclose the use of AI tools in a transparent manner, preferably in an editorial note, footnote, or separate statement. The disclosure should include the name of the tool, the purpose of its use, and the scope of its application.
Guidelines for Reviewers
Reviewers may use AI tools only to a limited extent and only if it does not compromise the confidentiality of the reviewed material. Manuscripts, peer review reports, and correspondence related to the evaluation of an article must not be entered into public generative AI tools.
AI must not replace independent scholarly assessment, critical thinking, or the reviewer’s responsible judgment. The evaluation of a scientific work, including its scholarly value, originality, and methodological soundness, remains the sole responsibility of the reviewer.
Guidelines for the Editorial Team
The editorial team may use AI tools only for auxiliary, organizational, or technical purposes, provided that this does not violate the confidentiality of materials or affect the independence of editorial decisions.
It is not permitted to use AI for analyzing unpublished manuscripts, confidential correspondence, or for making decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, or qualification of submissions. AI tools must not assume responsibility for scientific or editorial evaluation.

Breach of Policy
Undisclosed, improper, or non-compliant use of AI may be considered a violation of publication ethics standards. Depending on the stage of the process, this may result in a request for additional clarification, suspension of the editorial procedure, rejection of the submission, or other explanatory actions.
